'Sea Cloud' was christened in 1931 as the largest private sailing yacht of its day. Luxuriously redesigned by heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post and Edward Francis Hutton, this four-masted barque sailed to the world's most exotic destinations, enjoying a remarkable career hosting both diplomats and royalty. She has been luxuriously reappointed to the highest modern standards - but remains an authentic remnant of a bygone era with a mystique all her own. She cruises the sunny Mediterranean on sailings that vary in length from four to nine nights. Departures with special themes (such as garden) may also be offered.
All 32 cabins on board ‘Sea Cloud’ are outside-facing. Each cabin has direct-dial telephone, radio and small safe. A selection of toiletries, one robe per passenger and a hairdryer are also provided. Electrical current on board the ship is 220V (standard European). There are two Owner’s Cabins (Category A) that feature antique furnishings, a marble fireplace, walk-in closet and a 97-square-foot marble bathroom with tub. Category B cabins have either a shower or a tub; six feature antique décor, and two feature contemporary décor. The remaining 22 cabins (Categories 1-5) have twin beds and showers.
Best suited for couples or individuals, ‘Sea Cloud’ accommodates a maximum of 64 guests. She is also available by special arrangement for chartering parties. Generally, children over 12 are welcome on hotel sailings; children under 12 are welcome on charters.
Outstanding cuisine complemented by regional specialties is an integral part of the ‘Sea Cloud’ experience. Menus are expertly created by the on-board chefs and prepared using fresh ingredients from local markets.A fine selection of wines from well-known regions accompanies each lunch and dinner on board. ‘Sea Cloud’ offers open seating, and guests are free to choose their tables at all meals. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style, and dinner is served in the elegantly appointed restaurant at a single sitting. Formal attire is expected at only the welcome and farewell dinners. Guests with specific food requests can generally be accommodated with advance notice. Bars on the Lido deck and in the Lounge are open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
